Wallsend Meth Bust: Passenger's Pants Stash Exposed

A routine police patrol in Wallsend took an unexpected turn when officers discovered a passenger attempting to conceal methamphetamine in his trousers during a vehicle search.

The incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon when Newcastle City Police officers spotted a ute travelling along Cowper Street. What began as a standard traffic stop quickly escalated when police decided to search both the vehicle and its occupants.

The Discovery That Shocked Officers

During the personal search, officers made a startling discovery - the passenger had been hiding a quantity of the illegal substance methamphetamine, commonly known as 'ice', concealed within his clothing.

The 31-year-old man from Maryland now faces serious drug possession charges following the unexpected find. Police confirmed the substance was securely stashed in his pants when officers conducted their search.

Ongoing Battle Against Drug Crime

This incident highlights the continuing efforts of Newcastle police to combat drug-related crime in the region. The quick thinking and thorough approach of the officers led to another successful removal of dangerous substances from local streets.

A police spokesperson emphasised that 'routine patrols and vehicle checks remain crucial tools in our fight against drug distribution and possession' throughout the Newcastle area.

The accused man has been granted strict conditional bail and is scheduled to appear before Newcastle Local Court at a later date, where he will answer to charges of possessing a prohibited drug.
