Man Charged with Murder After Body Found and Woman Critically Injured in Regional NSW Home
Police have charged a 30-year-old man with murder following a distressing incident in Wellington, regional New South Wales, where the body of a 76-year-old man was discovered and a 74-year-old woman was found with serious injuries. Officers responded to a concern for welfare report at a residence on Gisborne Street in Wellington, approximately 40 minutes southeast of Dubbo, around 8:10 a.m. on Saturday.
Upon entering the home, authorities located the deceased elderly man and the injured woman, who was immediately treated by paramedics at the scene. She was subsequently airlifted to a hospital, where she remains in a critical condition, receiving urgent medical care.
Arrest Made After Extensive Police Search
Following an extensive search of the area, police arrested the 30-year-old suspect about two hours later inside a fast-food restaurant on Arthur Street in Wellington. He has been formally charged with murder, classified as a domestic violence offense, and causing grievous bodily harm with intent, also under domestic violence provisions.
The accused is scheduled to appear in court on Sunday, as police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist with the ongoing inquiries.
