Murder Warrant Issued for Teenager in Fatal Sydney Shooting Case

Authorities have escalated their investigation into a deadly shooting in Western Sydney, issuing a murder warrant for a teenager while releasing images of a man described as critical to the ongoing inquiries. The incident, which occurred in Lidcombe, has left one man dead and another injured, prompting a widespread police appeal for community assistance.

Details of the Alleged Attack

On March 16, around 4am, Abdullah Bahsa, 38, and another man were allegedly assaulted at an apartment on Shale Street in Lidcombe. According to police reports, a group of five heavyset men dressed in black were involved in the altercation. Bahsa suffered a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen and was rushed to Westmead Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The second victim was taken to the same hospital with non-life-threatening wounds and has since been recovering.

Police Release Images of Key Witness

More than a week after the alleged attack, New South Wales Police have released surveillance images of a man they believe may hold vital information about the shooting. Superintendent Robert Toynton emphasized that this individual is critical to the investigation, stating, That male can greatly assist us in our inquiries. The man is described as being of Pacific Islander or Maori appearance, aged in his 20s or early 30s, with a black beard and moustache, and was seen wearing a black zip-up hoodie over a black cap at the time.

Toynton urged the public to help identify him, noting, That person has family, friends ... they're going to know who this person is. He added that the man is linked to a very serious crime and anyone with information should contact police immediately. This individual is one of six people police have identified for questioning, with a number of others still unknown.

Warrant Issued for Teenager in Connection to Murder

In a significant development, police have issued a warrant for 18-year-old Henrick Becker, also known as Henry, who is wanted for alleged murder in connection to the shooting. Superintendent Toynton revealed that Becker is known to frequent areas including Sydney Olympic Park, Castle Hill, and Artarmon. He strongly encouraged Becker to surrender himself at the nearest police station and called on the community to report any sightings, stating, If anyone knows his whereabouts, please get in touch with the police.

Arrests and Ongoing Legal Proceedings

Since the initial attack, police have made progress in the case, arresting four men aged 19, 21, 22, and 26. These individuals have been charged with offences including murder and are currently before the courts. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to piece together the events leading to the fatal shooting and seek additional witnesses.

The Lidcombe community has been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement to ensure justice is served. Police are following multiple leads and emphasize that any information, no matter how small, could be crucial in solving this case.
