A significant rescue operation is currently underway in Otford after heavy machinery tumbled down a steep cliff, leaving the driver trapped inside the vehicle.
Emergency Response Details
New South Wales Ambulance paramedics were dispatched to the scene at 3:15 PM, and a substantial number of emergency resources remain at the location as of 5:50 PM. Paramedics utilised ropes to descend the cliff in order to reach the driver, who is believed to be a man aged in his 50s. Despite their efforts, they have been unable to extricate him from the machinery.
A medical team aboard the Toll rescue helicopter, along with specialist rescue crews, has been deployed to assist in the operation. Acting Superintendent for Fire and Rescue NSW, Andrew Bickle, informed 2GB that the heavy machinery had slipped off an embankment. He noted that while the exact distance of the fall has not been confirmed, it is estimated to be approximately 60 to 80 metres.
