Police in Cairns have charged four teenage boys in connection with an alleged handbag theft at a bus stop in the city's northern suburbs. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon, prompting a swift investigation by local authorities.

According to police reports, the theft took place around 3:30 pm at a bus stop on the corner of Smith Street and Mulgrave Road. A 45-year-old woman was waiting for a bus when a group of boys allegedly approached her and snatched her handbag, which contained personal items including a mobile phone, wallet, and keys.
The suspects fled the scene on foot, but were quickly identified by witnesses who provided descriptions to police. Officers from the Cairns Police Station responded promptly and apprehended the four boys within hours.
