Assault Cases Dominate Morning Session
In the morning, the court heard three separate assault charges. A 34-year-old man from Manoora pleaded guilty to common assault, receiving a 12-month good behaviour bond. Another defendant, a 28-year-old from Edmonton, was convicted of assault occasioning bodily harm and sentenced to 18 months probation. A third case involving a 45-year-old woman from Cairns North was adjourned for sentencing next month.
Drug Offenses Addressed
The afternoon session focused on drug-related crimes. A 29-year-old from Mooroobool faced charges for possessing methylamphetamine and cannabis. He was fined $1,500 and placed on a two-year good behaviour bond. In a separate case, a 41-year-old from Earlville was convicted of supplying dangerous drugs and received a suspended prison sentence of two years.
Property Crimes and Fraud
The court also dealt with property offenses. A 33-year-old from Woree admitted to stealing from a vehicle and was ordered to pay restitution of $800 plus court costs. Additionally, a 50-year-old from Cairns City was found guilty of fraud involving $5,000 and sentenced to community service for 200 hours.

Several other cases were mentioned, including breaches of domestic violence orders and driving offenses. The court emphasized the importance of compliance with legal orders and warned of stricter penalties for repeat offenders.
