Police have alleged that two accused bikies engaged in a violent altercation at a pub in Gosnells, brutally bashing a man with a metal bar stool before deliberately running him over with a car as he attempted to escape the scene. The incident, which has sparked a covert police manhunt, resulted in the victim sustaining serious injuries and has led to multiple arrests across Perth and regional Western Australia.
Alleged Assault Inside Gosnells Venue
According to authorities, the altercation began inside a venue on Corfield Street in Gosnells at approximately 9 pm on March 29. Two men, aged 26 and 21, allegedly became involved in a fracas with another man in his 30s. During the confrontation, police claim the pair assaulted the victim and struck him with a metal bar stool. Notably, the 26-year-old man was reportedly wearing clothing that displayed prohibited gang insignia at the time of the alleged attack.
Car Attack and Serious Injuries
After the alleged victim left the venue, the situation escalated further. Police allege that the 26-year-old man got behind the wheel of a white Jeep Grand Cherokee and deliberately drove at the victim as he walked on the footpath near Verna Street. The impact was so forceful that it threw the victim into nearby fencing. The 30-year-old man managed to make his way to a residence known to him, where emergency services were contacted. He was subsequently transported by St John WA to Fiona Stanley Hospital, where he received treatment for serious injuries.
Covert Police Investigation and Arrests
Detectives have spent several weeks conducting a covert manhunt, executing search warrants across Perth and regional Western Australia in connection with the incident. On April 21, officers searched a home on Ridge Way in Jurien Bay, seizing the Jeep allegedly involved in the attack. The same day, a 21-year-old man was arrested at a property in Maddington. A day later, police also arrested a 26-year-old man at a home in Calista, where they discovered metal knuckle dusters during the search.
Charges and Court Appearances
The 26-year-old man from Kwinana is facing seven charges, including failing to stop after an incident causing grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm, intent to cause bodily harm, and possessing a prohibited weapon. He is scheduled to appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court on Thursday. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old man from Maddington has been charged with common assault and failing to obey an order. He is set to appear before the same court on May 8.
This case highlights ongoing concerns about violent crime in the community and the efforts of law enforcement to address such incidents through thorough investigations and arrests.
