Police Crack Down on Alleged Shooting Plot
Two men aged 21 and a 16-year-old boy have been charged following a major police investigation into a series of public place shootings that rattled Sydney's southwest communities earlier this month.
The arrests came about 3pm on Wednesday when tactical officers executed simultaneous search warrants at properties in St Marys, Greenacre and Emerton in Western Sydney. The coordinated strikes formed part of Operation Lamm, a joint investigation between the State Crime Command's Criminal Groups Squad and the notorious Raptor Squad.
Vehicles and Weapons Seized
During their investigations, detectives made significant discoveries that allegedly link the trio to organised criminal activity. Police located and seized two vehicles - a Volkswagen Jetta and Suzuki Jimny - both fitted with stolen number plates in the suburbs of Ingleburn and Minto.
Authorities believe these vehicles served as "kill cars" - stolen automobiles typically used by criminal networks to carry out targeted attacks while avoiding detection.
"A further search of a reserve nearby in Minto resulted in the seizing of a pistol and a magazine," confirmed NSW Police in an official statement.
Court Appearances and Charges
All three accused were transported to various police stations across Sydney where they were refused bail on multiple serious charges. Each faces allegations of discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and participating in a criminal group.
Police evidence will allege the group was planning to shoot a man as part of what authorities describe as "an ongoing business feud."
The 16-year-old and one of the 21-year-old men received additional charges for possessing ammunition and a prohibited drug.
The teenage defendant is scheduled to appear before a children's court, while the two adult co-accused will face Mount Druitt Local Court on Thursday.
Investigations under Strike Force Lamm remain active as police continue their efforts to combat organised crime and public violence across Sydney.
