Canberra Woman Faces Court Over Alleged Attack on Four-Week-Old Baby
A 56-year-old woman has been arrested and is set to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday, January 29, following a disturbing incident in Braddon where she allegedly pulled a four-week-old baby from a pram and flung him to the ground.
Details of the Alleged Assault
According to ACT Policing, the incident occurred at approximately 4:30 PM on Saturday, January 24, on Ijong Street in Braddon. The mother was pushing her newborn son in a pram when the accused woman allegedly blocked their path. In a shocking turn of events, the stranger is accused of removing the infant from the pram and throwing him onto the ground, resulting in serious injuries.
The mother immediately took her baby to a hospital for medical treatment and reported the assault to the authorities. The alleged attacker was arrested four days later, on January 28, and now faces a charge of recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm.
Ongoing Police Investigation
Police are also investigating a second incident near Ijong Street that occurred prior to the baby assault, involving another woman who was allegedly assaulted.
