Man sought over alleged e-scooter assault in Canberra

Australian Federal Police are appealing for public assistance to identify a man following an alleged indecent assault involving an electric scooter in Canberra's northern suburbs.

Details of the alleged incident

The incident is reported to have occurred between 11:00 pm on Thursday, December 11, 2025, and 1:00 am on Friday, December 12, 2025. According to police, a man riding an e-scooter fitted with multi-coloured lights allegedly indecently grabbed a woman near the Gungahlin Drive overpass, close to the Gungahlin Lakes Golf Club.

Description of the man sought by police

Investigators have released a description of the man they wish to identify. He is believed to be in his 30s and was heard speaking with a slight Middle Eastern accent. At the time of the alleged offence, he was reportedly wearing the following items:

  • Black sandshoes
  • Long black pants
  • A black hooded jumper with the hood pulled over his head
  • A black backpack

The distinctive e-scooter he was riding had multi-coloured lights.

Police appeal for witnesses and footage

Following initial enquiries, ACT Policing is urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has relevant dash-cam footage from the area during that time frame to come forward. This includes any video that may show the described man or his distinctive e-scooter.
