Josh Fraser Rules Himself Out of Carlton Senior Coaching Race Again
Fraser Rules Out Carlton Coaching Job Again

Interim Carlton coach Josh Fraser has once again ruled himself out of contention for the club's senior coaching position, despite leading the Blues to three consecutive victories. At his first press conference as caretaker, Fraser made it clear he would not consider the role permanently, and he reaffirmed that stance amid the team's recent success.

“I do respect the question but no, I haven’t changed my mind,” Fraser said. The Blues have turned a significant corner, winning their last three matches, including an impressive triumph over premiership contenders Geelong last Friday. However, Fraser remains focused on the short term.

Fraser's Focus on the Present

“I’m personally really big on not looking too far ahead. I think where we’re at as a club it has to be about how we stack training sessions on top of each other, what our habits look like, and that’s going to be really important heading into this week,” he said. The interim coach emphasized the need for a week-by-week approach, given the club's recent struggles and current position.

AI and Coaching

When asked about his use of artificial intelligence, Fraser joked that he had to upgrade his ChatGPT account. “I’m learning about the impact AI can have,” he said. “I’ve actually really enjoyed it … there’s a place for it for sure.”

The Blues have looked like a completely different side under Fraser, with renewed energy and confidence. Despite this, Fraser remains adamant that he is not the long-term solution. The club continues its search for a permanent head coach, with Fraser steering the ship in the interim.
