Froth & Fury Festival Cancels 2027 Perth Event Due to Low Turnout
Froth & Fury Festival Cancels 2027 Perth Event

Alternative music event Froth & Fury Festival has confirmed it will not return to Western Australia in 2027 following low turnout numbers and rising costs in 2026.

Launched in Adelaide in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual heavy metal and punk festival held its first ever WA event this year at Perth HPC on January 24.

A statement to fans was released on Wednesday confirming the regrettable development.

"Unfortunately we have made the difficult decision that Froth & Fury Perth will not be going ahead in 2027," it read. "This is not the outcome we wanted. After an incredible day in Perth, we genuinely hoped to return and build on what was started. The support, energy and response from the WA music community meant a huge amount to us, and we are truly sorry that we cannot bring the festival back in 2027."

As a fan-made, fan-owned festival, organisers said they needed to protect the event's long-term future. They listed tangible reasons as to why the event would not return for its second Perth iteration next year.

"While the Perth event itself was amazing and everyone there had an incredible day, we simply did not reach the turnout numbers required to make the event viable for us moving forward," the statement continued. "Combined with the rising costs involved in delivering a festival of this scale in WA, it is unfortunately too great a financial risk for us to take on again at this stage — even though this has been an incredibly hard decision to make."

Perth metal fans expressed their devastation at the announcement. "What a shame... and I thought we finally had an awesome metal festival back in Perth," one person wrote. "Absolutely devastating. The Perth F&F was truly the best festival I've ever been to, and I know many share that sentiment. I'll keep my fingers crossed that one day you'll be able to come back to little ol' Perth," another said.

Organisers said they hoped it would not spell the "end of the story" in Perth, and confirmed the Adelaide edition would continue in 2027 with a date confirmed soon.
