Thomas Tuchel described England's World Cup quarterfinal victory over Brazil as "heroic" and akin to winning a final after his side staged a dramatic comeback to secure a 3-2 win in Doha.
Dramatic Comeback Seals Victory
England trailed 2-0 at half-time before scoring three unanswered goals in the second half, with Jude Bellingham netting the winner in the 89th minute. The win sets up a semifinal clash with France.
"This was heroic, like winning a final," Tuchel said. "The character and belief shown by the players was extraordinary. To come back from two goals down against a team like Brazil shows the spirit in this squad."
Tuchel Praises Bellingham and Team Spirit
Jude Bellingham, who also provided an assist for Harry Kane's equalizer, was singled out for praise. "Jude is a special talent. He has the ability to change games, and he did that tonight," Tuchel added.
The victory continues England's unbeaten run in the tournament, having won all four matches so far. Brazil, meanwhile, exit at the quarterfinal stage for the second consecutive World Cup.
England's Road to the Semifinals
England will face France on Wednesday for a place in the final. France advanced after a 2-1 win over Portugal earlier on Saturday. Tuchel acknowledged the challenge ahead: "France are a fantastic team, but we have belief. We will prepare well and give everything to reach the final."
The match drew a peak television audience of 12.8 million in the UK, making it the most-watched sporting event of the year so far.
