Fast Start Sets the Tone
The Demons came out firing, establishing an 18-12 lead at the first quarter and extending it to 34-23 by halftime. Meg Gallager was instrumental in the attack, finishing with 35 goals for the match. Her accuracy and positioning kept the Comets' defence on the back foot throughout the first half.
Comets Fight Back
Comets steadied in the third quarter, led by Aitaua Enari who scored 40 goals for the game. They surged in the final term, outscoring the Demons 15-8, but Southside's defence held firm in the closing minutes to secure the win. The Demons' composure under pressure was a key factor in their victory.
Western Roar Hold Off Warriors
Western Roar remain one game behind the Demons in second place after a tense 50-48 win over third-placed West Coast Warriors. The match was evenly contested, with scores tied 29-29 at halftime. Gardenia Asiata was influential for the Warriors, while Annabel Saggers and Eva Petkovic produced crucial intercepts for the Roar. Asha Parsons converted a vital shot with 30 seconds remaining to seal the victory.
Sharks Leap into Top Four
Fremantle Sharks moved into the top four with a dominant 68-42 victory over the winless Rangers. Aisha Morcombe led the way with 43 goals, while Myra Ugle worked hard for Rangers with 21 goals. The Sharks were never headed, controlling the game from start to finish.
Jets Score Rare Win
In Friday night's match, Souwest Jets recorded just their second win of the season with a 49-42 victory over Peel Lightning. The Lightning led 13-6 after the first quarter and 27-19 at halftime, but the Jets dominated the second half. Lily Knight was outstanding for the Jets with 38 goals, while Kasey Ridout (32 goals) tried to keep the Lightning in the contest.
Men's Results
In men's action, Southside Demons lost their second consecutive game, with West Coast Warriors claiming a thrilling 57-56 win to leapfrog them into second place. Western Roar extended their lead at the top of the table with a 63-49 victory over Comets. Rangers narrowly defeated Peel Lightning 50-48 in the Friday night game.
