West Coast Eagles' senior players have been urged to stand up and deliver for under-pressure coach Andrew McQualter, as the club faces mounting scrutiny following a string of poor performances.

Former Eagles star and club great, Glen Jakovich, has called on the team's leadership group to take responsibility and help lift the burden from McQualter. Jakovich believes the players need to step up and take ownership of the club's on-field struggles.
"The coach can only do so much," Jakovich said. "It's time for the senior players to stand up and deliver. They need to lead by example and take control out on the field."
Pressure Mounting on McQualter
McQualter, who took over as head coach at the start of the season, has come under fire after a disappointing start to the campaign. The Eagles have managed just two wins from their opening nine matches, leaving them languishing near the bottom of the AFL ladder.
Critics have questioned McQualter's game plan and player management, but Jakovich insists the blame should not fall solely on the coach. He pointed to the team's experienced players as key to turning the season around.

Key figures such as captain Luke Shuey, Elliot Yeo, and Jeremy McGovern have been singled out as needing to lift their performances. Jakovich stressed that these players must set the standard and inspire the younger members of the squad.
"The senior guys have to take ownership of the team's performance," Jakovich added. "They can't just leave it to the coach to fix everything. They need to have a hard look at themselves and ask what more they can do."

The Eagles' hierarchy has publicly backed McQualter, but there is growing speculation about his future if results do not improve. Club CEO Trevor Nisbett reiterated his support for the coach, but acknowledged that the team needs to show improvement.
"We have full faith in Andrew and his coaching staff," Nisbett said. "But we also need to see the players respond and start delivering on the field. It's a collective effort."
