Fremantle forward Jye Amiss has left Optus Stadium baffled with an optical illusion that even Harry Houdini and David Copperfield would be proud of.
The youngster took a set shot at goal in the second quarter of the Dockers' Len Hall Tribute game against Carlton that appeared to swing right, then left and away from the goals.
The purple army was left disappointed by what they saw until the goal umpire raised his two hands to award the goal.
Carlton players instantly raised their hands to question the call, and camera angles made the shallow, flour-bag snap look no clearer.
Commentator Adam Papalia was left shocked after initially calling the kick as going across the face of the goal, as it appeared to do, while David King was left saying "how".
Former St Kilda star Nick Dal Santo was left questioning what he'd seen.
"I have to see that again. It's done a lap around the post," he said on Fox Footy.
"I don't know about that. There wasn't a lot of celebration. They've ticked it off."
Amiss has made a spectacular return to form in recent weeks, having starred in the western derby against bitter rivals West Coast last week.
He broke the club's record for marks inside with 12, a record long held by club champion Matthew Pavlich, on his way to an equal career-high five majors.
After a lean 2025, Amiss was on the edge of selection but has rewarded coach Justin Longmuir's faith and had three majors approaching halftime against the Blues.
