Knights winger Marzhew signs new deal until 2029

Newcastle Knights winger Greg Marzhew has committed his future to the club, signing a multi-year contract extension that will keep him in Newcastle until the end of the 2029 season. The powerhouse ball-runner, who was due to become a free agent at the end of this season, turned down interest from rival NRL clubs to remain with the Knights.

The 29-year-old, who has been in sensational form this season, has scored 13 tries in nine games, including an extraordinary eight tries over the past two matches. Last week, he equalled the club record for most tries in a single game with five against St George Illawarra in a 44-10 victory.

Knights praise Marzhew's commitment

Knights recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan expressed delight at Marzhew's decision to recommit to the club. "Greg has been in stellar form, he's thriving outside [centre] Bradman [Best], and we're pleased he has recommitted to the club," O'Sullivan said.

"The game is dependent on backfield carries and Greg has one of the best carries in the NRL. Along with his try-scoring ability, he produces tries that others just can't score. Pleasingly, Greg turned down higher offers from other clubs to stay with the Knights and be part of our success moving forward."

Coach impressed by winger's development

Knights coach Justin Holbrook also praised Marzhew's contribution to the team. "Greg is an extremely important part of our left edge," Holbrook said. "After being a late starter in the NRL, Greg has improved each year, with his form this season showing he is a world-class winger. This contract extension is a great reward for his hard work."

Marzhew's new deal extends his stay at the Knights for another three years, securing one of the NRL's most dangerous finishers for the foreseeable future. The club's fans will be thrilled to see the try-scoring machine remain in the red and blue until at least the end of the 2029 season.
