StreetX Founder Daniel Bradshaw on AFL Origin Collection's Perfect Fit for WA Brand
StreetX Founder on AFL Origin Collection's Perfect Fit for WA Brand

StreetX founder Daniel Bradshaw has revealed precisely why a State of Origin collection was an ideal match for the iconic Western Australian streetwear brand that is making waves globally.

Rooted in Western Australian Culture

Bradshaw, a fiercely parochial West Australian, has built StreetX through sold-out collaborations with local legends. These include West Coast Eagles icon Ben Cousins, WA's first UFC champion Jack Della Maddalena, and even Perth power grocer Tony Galati.

Therefore, when the AFL announced the highly anticipated return of the Origin clash to Perth on February 14, it was inevitable Bradshaw would leverage his brand's cult following to support the event.

A Natural Progression for the Brand

"So much of our brand is rooted in Western Australian culture," Bradshaw told The West Australian. "For us, it's a pretty easy thing to go ahead and do, seeing as it's the first time in a long time that Origin is back."

The collection prominently features iconic WA imagery, with a simple design centered around the Swan. Bradshaw noted that incorporating Victorian elements was also enjoyable, given the brand's extensive work with football-inspired themes and retro logos, making the collection straightforward to assemble.

"It's always amazing doing anything that represents Australian sport as a whole but then especially West Australian sport," he added.

Collection Launch and Campaign Faces

StreetX released its Origin graphic tee online just days before the sold-out clash. Hoodies and scarves from the collection are available exclusively at the Origin Locker Room pop-up store located at Forrest Place.

The brand's Origin campaign is spearheaded by WA representative and Fremantle Dockers star Luke Jackson. Meanwhile, his Dockers teammate Caleb Serong fronts the Victorian merchandise.

Luke Jackson as the Perfect WA Representative

"For us, Luke Jackson is sort of the perfect representation of WA," Bradshaw explained. "When he whacks his teeth out and gets the photos going, he's fun-loving, he's ready to go. I think that depicts West Australian culture better than anyone."

Bradshaw emphasized that Jackson embodies the essence of West Australian football, stating, "He is the epitome of what West Australian footy is and should be."

Anticipation for the Historic Clash

While Bradshaw hopes to see numerous West Australian and Victorian fans sporting StreetX gear at Optus Stadium, he is equally excited to witness the return of the historic match itself.

"It'll be interesting to see how the game goes, if the players go all out but hopefully it's like the olden days, where they're playing for the pride of the jumper," he said.

The founder's passion for local culture and sport continues to drive StreetX's unique position in the market, blending streetwear with state pride.
