WA AFLW Stars Shine: Roberts, Strom & Newton Earn All-Australian Honours
WA AFLW Trio Earn All-Australian Selection

The AFLW's elite have been recognised, with Western Australian talent featuring prominently in the 2025 All-Australian team. West Coast Eagles' prodigy Ella Roberts and Fremantle Dockers' ruck star Mim Strom have cemented their status as the competition's best, each earning their second consecutive All-Australian blazer.

They are joined by Dockers' midfielder Gabby Newton, who received her maiden selection following a breakout campaign that solidified her importance to the Fremantle engine room.

Eagles' Wing Star Soars to New Heights

Ella Roberts was instrumental in West Coast's historic charge to their first-ever AFLW finals series. Named on the wing in the prestigious team, the 20-year-old phenom delivered a stunning individual season that captivated fans and pundits alike.

Her stat line was nothing short of phenomenal, averaging 24 disposals, seven tackles, and four clearances per game. This remarkable consistency and explosive work rate made her the first West Coast Eagles player, male or female, to secure multiple All-Australian honours.

"I just always want to improve and each and every year, I get to the end of the season and just can't wait for the next year because I know what I can improve on," Roberts said, reflecting on her drive for excellence. "This year, a lot of that was just consistency and my work rate, so to be rewarded again with making the All-Australian team is really cool."

Dockers' Duo Dominate with Dual Honours

Across town, the Fremantle Dockers are celebrating a double dose of All-Australian success. Mim Strom has firmly established herself as the premier ruck in the AFLW. The 184cm workhorse not only dominated the aerial contests but also showcased an unparalleled ground-level presence, finishing the season with the third-most clearances of any player in the league.

Fremantle's head of AFLW, Claire Heffernan, heaped praise on Strom's development and influence. "Year on year, Mim continues to elevate her influence both on and off the field, and to be recognised as an All-Australian for the second year in a row is thoroughly deserved," Heffernan stated.

"Not only is she incredibly dominant as a ruck, she also fills the role of an extra midfielder for us with the ground coverage she provides. Her work rate, craft, footy smarts and her impact in contests have all taken significant steps forward this season. She's become a real leader in our group, and this honour reflects her professionalism and hard work."

Newton's Breakout Season Rewarded

Completing the WA trifecta is Gabby Newton, who earned her spot on the All-Australian bench. In her second season with Fremantle after crossing from the Western Bulldogs, the 24-year-old midfielder thrived, becoming a key pillar in the Dockers' on-ball division.

Heffernan highlighted Newton's significant growth since arriving at the club. "Her growth since arriving at our club has been immense and this selection is a fantastic reward for the work she's put in," she said.

The selections underscore a strong period for women's Australian Rules football in Western Australia, with local stars being consistently recognised among the nation's very best players.
