Best Man Faints at Wedding, Officiant Keeps Going: Viral Clip
Best Man Faints at Wedding, Officiant Continues

A social media clip capturing a dramatic moment during a wedding in the United States has been viewed over seven million times. The viral video displays the moment a member of the bridal party suddenly hits the deck during an outdoor ceremony in Texas, with the celebrant simply carrying on with the service as though nothing has happened.

The Fainting Incident

Drayton Williams, a 28-year-old businessman from Austin, posted the video to TikTok of himself fainting during his friend’s wedding ceremony while he was acting as best man. “Don’t lock your knees folks,” he jokingly captioned the clip. Footage of the unexpected moment shows Mr. Williams swaying back and forth behind the groom before suddenly plummeting to the ground with a loud thud. As guests gasp, he is quickly helped back to his feet by the groom and another groomsman while the celebrant continues with his ceremony, barely pausing for breath.

Reactions and Comments

The viral video has also received over seven thousand comments from people, with many left confused as to why the celebrant didn’t pause the ceremony to let the best man recover. The simple comment: “Why didn’t he stop?” has been liked by over 452,000 users. Another user commented: “Why is there no urgency from anyone?? Why did he keep talking?” “Schedule must’ve been real tight,” one person joked, with someone else writing, “The definition of the show must go on.”

Popular Recreation

A popular comedian on TikTok, Madison Humphrey, had already recreated the video within a day of it being posted, mimicking the wedding party who largely ignored Mr. Williams in the original video. Her video has also since racked up over three million views.

Explanation from the Best Man

Mr. Williams told US news outlet Newsflare that he had locked his knees during the ceremony and said that the combination of the heat and his nerves led to him becoming dizzy before falling forward. “I just thought it was the nerves in general, not that I was going to pass out,” he told Newsflare. “All that said, next thing I know, I was getting picked up by my friends and trying to stand upright after losing consciousness for a split second.”

Aftermath

Mr. Williams also told People that the bride and groom were not bothered by the dramatic incident and after getting some food and water, he proceeded to give a speech at the wedding reception later in the afternoon. “They genuinely laughed because I was just embarrassed and they wanted to make me feel better,” he told the outlet.
