Corrections and Clarifications
The Guardian's corrections and clarifications column for July 3, 2026, addresses two errors in previously published articles. In a piece on climate policy published June 30, a quote was incorrectly attributed to Senator Jane Smith; it should have been attributed to Dr. Emily Brown, a climate scientist at the University of Melbourne. The error occurred during the editing process and was not caught before publication.
Factual Error in Business Section
Additionally, an article in the business section on July 1 contained a factual error regarding the quarterly earnings of a major Australian bank. The article stated that the bank's profit had increased by 15%, but the correct figure was a 5% increase. The error was due to a misinterpretation of the financial data provided by the bank. The Guardian apologizes for these mistakes and has updated the online versions of the articles accordingly.
