A 25-year-old man allegedly involved in multiple vehicle thefts and burglaries across Canberra was found in possession of a shotgun and dozens of shells when arrested on Wednesday.
Arrest and Search
The man was arrested at a home in Chifley on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, after a warrant was issued in April for allegedly violating his parole conditions. ACT Policing's Proactive Intervention and Diversion Team, with assistance from AFP Specialist Operations, attended the residence. After several hours of negotiation, the man surrendered. A subsequent search of the house uncovered a shotgun and dozens of shotgun shells.
Ongoing Investigation
Police believe the man is involved in multiple vehicle thefts and burglaries across Canberra. Inquiries into those offences and the possession of the firearm and ammunition are ongoing. The man is due to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday.
