A man has lost his life and four other individuals sustained injuries following a serious traffic incident in Melbourne's northern suburbs on Saturday morning. The collision occurred when a vehicle drifted into oncoming traffic and was struck from the side.
Details of the Incident
Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit were dispatched to Mickleham Road in Attwood around 7:00 a.m. after reports that a southbound vehicle had crossed onto the incorrect side of the road. The vehicle then collided with two other cars.
A male passenger traveling in the southbound vehicle was transported to a hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. The male driver and another male passenger from the same car were rushed to medical facilities with life-threatening conditions.
Injuries and Response
The drivers of the two other vehicles, both of whom were alone in their cars, were taken to hospitals with minor injuries. Emergency services responded swiftly, and the scene remains under investigation.
Authorities are working to determine the cause of the crash, and extensive traffic delays are anticipated while detectives continue their inquiries. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, possesses dashcam footage, or has any relevant information to come forward.
