A 16-year-old boy has been charged following the alleged stabbing of a 41-year-old man in Bendigo. The incident occurred on Thursday evening in Bath Lane, where police claim the victim was attacked by a group of up to six youths after an altercation.
Arrest and charges
Protective Services Officers arrested the teenager at Bendigo Railway Station on Saturday night. He was later interviewed by detectives from the Bendigo Crime Investigation Unit. The teen, a resident of the Greater Bendigo area, has been charged with intentionally causing injury, affray, assault with a weapon, and committing an indictable offence while on bail.
Victim's ordeal
The victim sustained suspected stab wounds during the attack. He managed to escape to a nearby sporting bar, where he sought help after the group fled. Paramedics treated the injured man at the scene before transporting him to hospital in a serious condition.
Police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers. The teenager was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before a children's court.
