Mitchell Freeway is set to undergo a major change this week, after years of roadworks plagued one of the road’s busiest intersections. The on-ramp to Karrinyup Road from the Freeway northbound is finally set to open from 5am on Thursday, June 25.
New Exit Location
The new exit is “approximately 500 metres south” of the original exit, according to Main Roads. The change means motorists will have to move to the left lane earlier if wanting to travel onto Karrinyup Road. If motorists miss the new ramp, the next northbound exit is Erindale Road, which is almost 3km further on the Freeway.
Permanent Change After Years of Disruption
The change is permanent, according to Main Roads, after years of road works interrupted traffic flow at the nearby Stephenson Road turnoff. Main Roads has urged motorists to “be aware and follow all signage” to avoid confusion.
