Perth Traffic Chaos: Crashes on Mitchell and Graham Farmer Freeways Cause Peak Hour Delays
A crash on a busy stretch of Mitchell Freeway southbound is wreaking havoc for drivers heading home for the weekend. The incident occurred before Vincent Street in Leederville and was reported by Main Roads at 3:55pm on Friday, June 19, 2026.
The left emergency lane has been closed by Incident Response teams, and debris is spread across multiple lanes. Traffic is moving slowly approaching the crash site, with towing services already on scene to assist. Main Roads has urged motorists to drive with caution, noting that several people are out of their vehicles near the incident.
Meanwhile, just a few kilometres away, a separate crash in the Northbridge tunnel on the Graham Farmer Freeway is adding to the chaos. The right lane of the tunnel eastbound was blocked by the crash, but it has since been cleared. Despite this, traffic remains slow on approach as the evening peak hour continues.
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and consider alternative routes if possible.
