Tiny Home Collapse Leaves Queenslanders Owing Millions

Company Placed Under Administration

My Little House and Container Domes & Shelters, both owned by Liberty Oz Pty Ltd, were placed under administration on June 15, leaving customers in the lurch. The Brisbane northside company's collapse has left Queenslanders collectively owing millions of dollars.

Customer Deposits Lost

Kerrie Carney and her husband Brendan purchased a tiny home for their 24-year-old daughter to live in their Sunshine Coast backyard. After researching online, they chose Geebung-based My Little House. The Carneys placed a deposit of over $43,000 in June last year, but 12 months later, the home has not been delivered. "It was due in January, then they pushed it back to March, and then they said in one of my emails the 15th of June," Kerrie said, the same date the company entered administration. "It is pretty gut wrenching to know that people out there that can do that."

Company Closes Doors

The company's warehouse and website have been closed, with a note taped to the shop front window as the only notice to some customers. A statement from company director Greg Bloom acknowledged the situation, saying "the management team recognises the situation has created uncertainty and concern" and they "sincerely regret the distress many may be experiencing." A creditors meeting is scheduled for Wednesday to decide next steps.
