A man has been charged over a series of bizarre thefts that targeted homes in Perth's western suburbs, with police alleging he stole unusual items including a lawnmower and a wheelbarrow.

Details of the alleged thefts

The 34-year-old man from Wembley Downs was arrested on Wednesday after an investigation into a spate of thefts in the area. Police allege the man stole items from multiple properties between April and May 2026.

Among the stolen goods were a lawnmower, a wheelbarrow, a garden hose, and a set of golf clubs. Police also recovered a number of other items believed to have been taken from homes in the suburbs of Floreat, Wembley Downs, and City Beach.

Police investigation

Detectives from the Western Suburbs Police District launched an investigation after receiving reports of unusual thefts from residents. The investigation led officers to a property in Wembley Downs, where they allegedly found the stolen items.

Police have praised the community for their assistance in providing information that helped identify the suspect.

Charges laid

The man has been charged with six counts of stealing and one count of burglary. He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on Friday.
