Landmark Perth Beachfront Apartments Complete, Residents Moving In
The landmark eight-storey beachfront apartment development in Perth's northern suburbs is now fully complete, with residents beginning to move into the luxurious residences. Known as Claytons Mindarie Beachfront, the development is situated along Clayton's Beach in the Mindarie Marina area, marking a significant addition to the local property landscape.
Development Details and High-End Amenities
First approved by State planning officials in November 2022, the project has an estimated value of $42 million. The 89-apartment complex boasts a suite of premium amenities designed for an upscale coastal lifestyle. These include a resort-style 20-meter swimming pool, an ocean-facing gymnasium, a dedicated book retreat, a games room, and a sauna. Given its prime coastal location, the development sits at the upper end of the market, with apartments listed between $1.69 million and $3.4 million. Impressively, 85 percent of these units have already been sold, indicating strong demand for luxury beachfront living in the region.
Swift Construction and Developer Insights
Construction on the project took just two years to complete, with works commencing in March 2024. The development was delivered by Subiaco-based property developer Edge Visionary Living. Managing director Gavin Hawkins praised the swift delivery, noting that it reflects the strength of their team and integrated approach across development and construction. "Delivering a project of this calibre in just two years is a testament to our commitment to quality and certainty for buyers," Mr Hawkins said. He added that Claytons was designed to create something truly special for Mindarie, offering exceptional design, outstanding amenity, and an enviable coastal lifestyle. "To see the building now complete and welcoming its first residents is incredibly rewarding," he remarked.
Initial Opposition and Future Projects
Despite its completion, the eight-storey development faced initial opposition from the City of Wanneroo in 2022. City officers recommended that State planners reject the oceanfront project due to height concerns, arguing it was of an "inappropriate scale of development in the context and character of the area," as it stood about 10 meters above the height limit for the zone. However, the project proceeded and has now been successfully finalized. Looking ahead, Edge Visionary Living is set to deliver a further $300 million in projects over the next 12 months, including Muse in Fremantle and Riviere West in Applecross. The company recently completed other developments such as Broadway on the Bay in Crawley and Arthouse Apartments in Joondalup. Additionally, they are behind the Ocean Beach Hotel redevelopment in Cottesloe, a 12-storey, 85-apartment, 120-room hotel proposal approved in 2023, though this project remains in limbo amid ongoing concerns over financial viability.
