The Fremantle Truffle Festival is set to transform the port city into Western Australia's truffle capital from July 10 to 12, 2026. Expanding on the sold-out Truffle Extravaganza in 2025, this year's event invites local restaurants, bars, and venues in Fremantle's heritage precinct to showcase the prized seasonal ingredient.
Novelty Truffle Creations
Returning vendor Eggspot will offer a Truffle Brioche Burger along with other unique items. Emily Taylor will serve truffle-inspired dumplings, while Anglesea creates truffle cocktails. Little Creatures Brewery presents a five-course truffle-based set menu. Venue representative Mel Jacobs noted the truffle provides "an incredible opportunity to create memorable dining experiences."
Traders at Fremantle Markets are encouraged to innovate, with visitors able to enjoy novelty menu items while browsing stalls.
Truffle House and Experiences
Near the markets on Henderson Street, a large-scale Truffle House marquee will offer tastings, cooking demonstrations, artisan products, and premium truffle goods from Great Southern Truffles. Managing Director Adam Wilson said a growing appetite for premium WA produce drove the expanded exhibition.
"Western Australian truffles are recognised among the finest in the world, and the Fremantle Truffle Festival has become a fantastic platform to showcase that quality," Wilson said. "This year's expansion allows us to bring the truffle experience to more people than ever before, creating opportunities to taste, learn, and engage with this remarkable product in a variety of settings."
Truffle-sniffing dogs will also feature, with an agility course demonstrating their speed, skill, and acute sense of smell.
Economic Impact
Chrissie Maus, CEO of the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce, said the event boosts the local economy during winter. "This is no longer simply a festival at the Fremantle Markets. It has evolved into a city-wide celebration that invites visitors to explore Fremantle's restaurants, bars, accommodation providers, retailers, and unique visitor experiences," she said.
"The economic impact extends well beyond the truffle itself. Events like this drive visitation, encourage overnight stays, support local jobs, and create opportunities for businesses across the city to share in the benefits."
The Fremantle Truffle Festival runs from July 10 to 12, 2026.
