FOMO Fremantle has officially announced the arrival of two distinctive new stores that will enhance its vibrant retail and community offerings. The popular precinct is set to welcome a Japanese-inspired organic matcha cafe and a dedicated sustainable fashion space, both bringing unique concepts to the local area.
Love Ya So Matcha: A Japanese Tea Experience
From Sunday, February 1, the cult favourite Love Ya So Matcha will join the FOMO family, offering Perth residents an authentic taste of Japanese tea culture. Founded by Japanese mother-daughter duo Aileen Carroll and Yoko Abe, this specialty cafe focuses on serving high-quality, ceremonial-grade organic matcha sourced directly from Japan.
The business emphasises the mindful ritual of tea preparation, with every cup carefully hand-whisked to achieve a smooth, creamy finish that balances gentle sweetness with a subtle hint of umami. Aileen and Yoko have recently travelled extensively across Japan to establish direct relationships with small, family-run tea farms, including pioneers in organic seed-to-bag matcha production.
Tradition Meets Modern Flavours
Love Ya So Matcha aims to celebrate traditional Japanese tea practices while embracing contemporary flavour profiles. The cafe features a customisable menu that includes both matcha and hojicha options, along with weekly specials that showcase innovative tea creations.
The establishment will operate with convenient hours, opening from 7am to 3pm on Wednesdays through Fridays, and from 8am to 3pm on Saturdays and Sundays. This schedule makes it an ideal spot for morning tea breaks, afternoon refreshments, or weekend leisure visits.
Slow Fashion Hub: Sustainable Style Solutions
The second new addition to FOMO Fremantle is the Slow Fashion Hub, a community-focused space dedicated to promoting sustainable fashion practices. This innovative hub encourages people to care for, repair, and creatively reimagine the clothing they already own, rather than constantly purchasing new items.
Hands-On Workshops and Community Programs
Designed as an interactive community centre, the Slow Fashion Hub offers various educational opportunities for all ages. During school holidays, the hub will host special camps for children, teaching them basic textile skills and sustainable fashion principles.
For adults and families, the space provides shorter, accessible workshops that focus on simple making, mending, and creative upcycling projects. Participants can learn to transform existing garments into new items, from adjusting baggy jeans to redesigning shirts and creating custom tote bags.
Reducing Textile Waste
The primary mission of the Slow Fashion Hub is to help reduce textile waste while introducing people to sustainable fashion brands and practices. By teaching repair skills and encouraging creative reuse of clothing, the hub aims to foster a more conscious approach to fashion consumption within the Fremantle community.
Those interested in participating can book workshops directly through the Slow Fashion Hub website, where they'll find a comprehensive schedule of upcoming sessions and special events.
