Police Issue Alerts for Two Missing Girls in Wollongong and Lake Illawarra
Communities in the Illawarra region have been placed on high alert after two young girls were reported missing in separate cases. NSW Police have issued public alerts for Elizabeth Fountain, aged 12, and Sophia Lyons, aged 13, both of whom are known to frequent areas in and around Wollongong and Lake Illawarra.
Details of the Missing Girls
The cases are separate, although both girls went missing on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Police and family members have expressed significant concern for the welfare of the girls due to their young age.
Sophia Lyons, 13, was last seen on Lysaght Street in Fairy Meadow at approximately 3:00 PM. She is described as Caucasian, about 165 centimetres tall, weighing 55 kilograms, with long red hair and brown eyes. Police reported that she was last seen wearing pyjamas. Sophia is believed to frequent the Wollongong, Lake Illawarra, and Central Coast areas.
Elizabeth Fountain, 12, was last seen at a home in Hurstville, Sydney, around 7:45 AM. She is described as Asian, approximately 150 centimetres tall with a medium build, black hair, and brown eyes. Elizabeth was last seen wearing a school uniform consisting of a white shirt and a grey skirt, and she was carrying a black backpack with a pink key chain. She is known to frequent the Hurstville, Lewisham, Ashfield, and Wollongong areas.
