Man Critical After Alleged Driveway Attack in Nowra

A man is fighting for life in hospital after a violent alleged neighbourhood dispute turned into a brutal driveway attack on the South Coast. The incident, which has shocked the local community, occurred in the Nowra suburb and involved a man being pinned between two vehicles before allegedly being assaulted.

Violent Confrontation in Residential Street

Emergency services were called to McKay Street in Nowra just before 5pm on Monday, February 2, following reports of a serious altercation. Upon arrival, paramedics discovered a 45-year-old man with severe leg injuries after he had been trapped between two cars in his own driveway.

The injured man received immediate medical attention at the scene before being airlifted to St George Hospital in a critical condition. Medical staff continue to monitor his condition as he fights for his life.

Alleged Assault During Pinning Incident

Police investigators have been told the violent episode followed an ongoing neighbourhood dispute between the two men involved. According to witness accounts provided to officers, the driver of one vehicle allegedly punched the 45-year-old man while he was still pinned between the cars.

The alleged attacker then left the scene without providing assistance to the critically injured man. This detail has particularly concerned local authorities investigating the matter.

Swift Police Response and Arrest

NSW Police officers acted quickly following the incident, locating and arresting a 39-year-old man a short time later in Quiberon Street, Nowra. The arrest occurred within close proximity to the original crime scene.

The arrested man has been charged with multiple serious offences including:

  • Using a weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm
  • Failing to stop and assist after a vehicle impact causing grievous bodily harm
  • Contravening an Apprehended Violence Order (AVO)

Court Proceedings and Bail Refusal

The 39-year-old accused appeared before Bail Division Court Three on Tuesday, February 3, where he was formally refused bail. Police have confirmed that the two men involved in the incident were known to each other prior to the alleged attack.

The case continues to develop as investigators gather further evidence and statements regarding the violent confrontation that has left one man fighting for his life in hospital.
