Police Respond to Tip-Off About Suspicious Activity
Two men wearing disguises have been arrested and charged following an alleged break-in at a property in Cataract, with police responding to a tip-off that led them directly to the crime scene.
The incident unfolded on Monday, November 10, at approximately 3:30pm when police received information about suspicious activity at a residence on Picton Road. Officers attended the location and discovered the break-in was actively occurring.
Men Caught Red-Handed with Stolen Property
Upon arrival, police located a 41-year-old man and a 45-year-old man with a vehicle at the property. A subsequent search of their vehicle revealed tools, fixtures and fittings belonging to the victim of the break-in.
Both men were immediately arrested at the scene and taken into custody. The swift police response prevented the alleged intruders from leaving with the stolen items.
Multiple Charges Laid in Wollongong Court
The younger suspect, aged 41, faces multiple charges including aggravated break and enter and face disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence. Additional charges include using a vehicle with an unauthorised number plate affixed and driving while disqualified.
The 45-year-old co-accused was charged with aggravated break and enter and face disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence. Both men were refused bail and appeared at Wollongong Local Court on November 11 to face the serious allegations.
