Teenagers Arrested and Drugs Seized Following Alleged Biker Gang Attack on Police

Two teenagers have been arrested and a significant quantity of drugs allegedly seized following a disturbing incident where a gang of e-bike and dirt bike riders reportedly attacked police officers on the Central Coast. The events unfolded last week, culminating in coordinated police raids on Friday morning.

Alleged Rock-Throwing Incident Damages Multiple Police Vehicles

According to New South Wales Police, highway patrol officers were travelling north along Ocean View Drive at Wamberal shortly after 1pm on January 25 when they encountered a group of approximately 20 riders approaching from the opposite direction. As the groups passed, one rider allegedly threw a projectile at the police vehicle, striking and significantly damaging the front windscreen.

The riders then allegedly continued onto Terrigal Drive at Terrigal where they threw further projectiles, damaging four additional police cars. In a particularly concerning development, police allege one rider threw a rock through a window, striking an officer and causing an arm injury. That rock was subsequently seized for forensic examination.

Police Investigation Leads to Raids and Arrests

Brisbane Water highway patrol police and officers from the Proactive Crime Team launched an immediate investigation into the incident. Their extensive inquiries led to coordinated raids on three storage units and two homes across the Central Coast at approximately 8am on Friday, January 30.

During these searches, police allegedly discovered and seized several items of interest including three motorbikes, an e-bike, 7 grams of cocaine, 84 grams of cannabis, more than 13 grams of MDMA, and various electronic devices.

Teenagers Face Multiple Serious Charges

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy at one of the searched homes, while a 17-year-old boy was subsequently arrested at Gosford Police Station just after 11am on the same day.

The younger teenager faces fourteen charges including:

  • Four counts of intentionally throwing an object at a vehicle and risking safety
  • Four counts of assaulting a police officer
  • Dealing with the proceeds of crime
  • Three driving offences
  • Two drug-related charges

The older teenager has been charged with four offences:

  • Driving recklessly or furiously
  • Assaulting police
  • Supplying a prohibited drug
  • Recklessly dealing with the proceeds of crime

Both boys were refused bail and were scheduled to face a children's court later on Friday. Police have confirmed that inquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

Community Concerns and Police Appeal

This incident follows growing community concerns about teenage biker activity in the region, with some residents previously expressing frustration about riders "using the streets as their playground." The attack on police vehicles represents a significant escalation in such behaviour.

NSW Police are appealing to the public for assistance with their investigation. Anyone with information or footage related to the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via their online portal.
