The exhibition, titled "The Unseen Journey," will focus on themes of migration, displacement, and identity, drawing from Ai's personal experiences and global crises.

Exhibition Details

"The Unseen Journey" will feature over 200 works, including sculptures, installations, and digital media. Ai Weiwei stated, "Art must confront the harsh realities of our time. This exhibition is a testament to the resilience of those forced to flee." The show will occupy the entire Aviva Studios space in Manchester, UK, spanning 3,000 square meters.

Key Works and Themes

Highlights include a new installation titled "Life Jackets," composed of over 10,000 life jackets collected from Lesbos, Greece. Somers noted, "This piece captures the desperation and hope of refugees." Another work, "The Labyrinth of Bureaucracy," uses official documents to critique immigration policies.
