Lauren Bennett, the English vocalist known for her contributions to some of the biggest pop hits of the 2010s, has died at the age of 37. Her passing was announced on Tuesday morning via a somber social media post from the now-disbanded girl group GRL.
GRL Pays Tribute to Former Member
The post from GRL, the group Bennett was part of, read: "It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Lauren. Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us. We will forever cherish the love, laughter and countless memories she gave us. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved."
This marks the second tragedy for the dance-pop group, following the death by suicide of member Simone Battle in September 2014. GRL had formed only two years prior and achieved global stardom with the single "Ugly Heart," which was certified four times platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA).
Rise to Fame with LMFAO and Girl Groups
Bennett first gained widespread recognition as a featured vocalist on LMFAO's 2011 megahit "Party Rock Anthem," which topped charts worldwide and sold millions of copies. She was also a member of the Paradiso Girls before joining GRL. Former Paradiso Girls member Aria Crescendo paid tribute on social media, saying: "Lauren my sister my best friend I can’t believe you left us. We spoke a week before it all happened and I could not imagine that would be the last time I would be able to talk to you. Love you and miss you forever."
Cause of Death Not Disclosed
A cause of death has not been made public. Bennett's death has shocked fans and former bandmates, who remember her as a talented vocalist and a warm, vibrant person.
