Albanese Reveals X-Rated Confession About Kylie Minogue
Albanese's X-Rated Confession About Kylie Minogue

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has made an x-rated confession about Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue, revealing he would be open to a romantic relationship with her if he were not happily married to wife Jodie Haydon. The admission came during an appearance on Nova's Bush Deep podcast, where host Nikki Osborne challenged the 63-year-old leader to a game of "Shag, marry, date".

Albanese's Choice

Osborne presented Albanese with three Australian treasures: Kylie Minogue, Nicole Kidman, and Rhonda Burchmore. Initially hesitant, Albanese noted he had only been married for six months. However, when pressed by Osborne to play along, he promptly chose Minogue. Osborne then asked if he would marry, shag, and date her, to which Albanese replied, "All of the above ... she's terrific."

Context and Reactions

The Prime Minister married Jodie Haydon in November 2025 after six years of dating. His comments drew comparisons to former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's relationship with American pop star Katy Perry, which went public in December last year. The podcast appearance was largely well-received, with viewers praising Albanese for showing a softer, humorous side. One viewer commented, "Even though I don’t not like Albo or Labor, I love that you were able to bring out a side of him that likely only his friends see." Another added, "What a beautiful down to earth humorous interview."

Criticism from Dai Le

However, independent Fowler MP Dai Le criticized the Prime Minister's language, calling it "unbecoming of a gentleman" during a Friday appearance on the Today show. She stated, "In parliament we’re not supposed to use certain words. I will find that very unbecoming of a gentleman, but maybe the prime minister is trying to appeal to another group, a target audience that don’t mind that kind of language being used."

Kylie Minogue's Career

Kylie Minogue has enjoyed a prolific career in entertainment since 1976, rising to fame in the mid-1980s as Charlene Mitchell on the long-running Australian soap opera Neighbours before transitioning to a successful recording artist. Her enduring popularity has made her a beloved figure in Australian culture.
