Cody Simpson Gives Hopeful Update After Vocal Cord Haemorrhage
Cody Simpson Shares Vocal Cord Healing Progress

Cody Simpson has shared a hopeful health update as he continues to recover from a serious injury to his vocal cords following his return to the music industry. The 29-year-old singer and former Olympic swimming hopeful has been unable to speak or sing since doctors discovered a severe haemorrhage on one of his vocal cords last month.

Recovery Progress

Taking to Instagram, Simpson updated his 4.8 million followers on his condition, writing: "Okay. She's healed a lot but needs more time. The haemorrhage is gone, but there's a big damaged blood vessel on the underside of my right vocal cord. We are doing another week of complete silence and praying for a miracle heal."

The performer asked fans to "send me your love" while he contemplates surgery, which he described as "looking likely." He explained: "We will then make a decision on surgery, which is a longer recovery process but also reduces the risk of future complications."

Unreleased Music Teased

Despite his vocal challenges, Simpson revealed he has been working on new material. "I've got the goods I've been piling for the project, when I could write and cut vocals. I want you to hear them," he wrote. He posted a video lip-syncing to an unreleased song with lyrics including "Can't say I miss you so I'll just stay" and "Sometimes I wish I was wherever you are."

Fans were quick to respond, with comments like "C'mon, just drop it already!!! Now that we got a taste, we know how it feels to miss it, and we need it," and "God, I was so smart for deciding to be a fan of yours as a pre-teen." Another added: "This is THE song!! Release date?"

Recent Music Return

The injury came just weeks after Simpson made a successful return to music with two new singles, Baby Blue and When It Comes to Loving You. Last week, he told followers he was continuing work on his new project through "silent mode sessions." He wrote: "Making music and writing songs not being able to sing or speak is tricky but I'm using it to open up new doors and find other ways to work on and finish this project because everyday is still valuable."
