Detectives are investigating the death of an elderly man who died in hospital after an alleged assault in Geelong. The man, aged in his 80s, was found with serious injuries at a home in Newcomb on Friday afternoon.
Incident Details
Police were called to a residence on Bellarine Highway around 3:30 pm on Friday following reports of an assault. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim with critical injuries. He was immediately transported to University Hospital Geelong, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Homicide Squad detectives have taken carriage of the investigation. They are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack. A crime scene has been established at the property, and forensic examinations are ongoing.
