"The princess arrived at 6 months," she wrote at the time. "I've cried and cried, I've compared and compared, blaming myself because I wasn't able to give her all that she needed. But no matter what God always shows me that He got me! Baby girl came at 25 weeks today and she's the best!! Thank You God for getting me this far."

On the same day as that initial announcement, Broadus disclosed she was battling HELLP syndrome, a rare and severe obstetric emergency often considered a dangerous variant of pre-eclampsia. According to reports from PEOPLE magazine, Broadus stated, "It is very severe and can even cause death if untreated."
Following her premature birth, baby Codi spent several months in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), receiving round-the-clock medical attention. In a hopeful update shared in January of this year, Broadus announced she had finally been able to bring her daughter home.
