An alleged arson attack on a Melbourne city business has led to the arrest of three men following a rapid police response. Emergency services were called to popular CBD bar Bar Bambi at approximately 5am on Saturday after Melbourne City Council staff monitoring live CCTV footage spotted a suspicious vehicle near the corner of Flinders and ACDC lanes and alerted police.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the front of the well-known licensed venue on ACDC Lane engulfed in flames. Police acted swiftly, arresting two alleged offenders after a foot chase nearby, while a third man was located in a laneway a short time later.
“This was a fast, coordinated response — officers were on scene within minutes and quickly took all three into custody,” police said in a statement. The trio remain in custody and are expected to be interviewed today.
Police are urging anyone with CCTV footage, dashcam recordings, or any information related to the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation. The incident highlights the importance of community vigilance and rapid emergency response in preventing further damage and ensuring public safety.
