A woman has been charged with the murder of a young child at a residence in Queensland. Emergency services were called to a home in Lowood, located west of Brisbane, shortly before 11:10 pm on Monday evening.
Child found unresponsive
Upon arrival, police discovered a four-year-old girl unresponsive inside the dwelling. Despite the efforts of paramedics who attended the scene, the young girl was tragically pronounced dead at the location.
On Tuesday, law enforcement officials confirmed that a 31-year-old woman had been taken into custody in connection with the death of the four-year-old child. The suspect has subsequently been charged with one count of murder, specifically involving domestic violence against a child.
Other children unharmed
According to police statements, two other children who were present inside the home at the time of the incident did not sustain any injuries. The woman is scheduled to appear before the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon to face the charges laid against her.
Authorities are urging any members of the public who may possess relevant information regarding the case to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
A crime scene has been officially established at the property, and inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the child's death are continuing as detectives work to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.
