The City of Perth is launching its inaugural Perth Multicultural Festival this weekend at Elizabeth Quay, featuring music, dance, and food from around the world. The free, family-friendly event will run from 5pm to 9pm on Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16.
Attendees can enjoy kids' workshops, cultural activities, and a variety of international food trucks. Lord Mayor Bruce Reynolds described the festival as a vibrant new addition to Perth's calendar, celebrating the diversity that makes the city special. 'Perth is proudly home to people from all corners of the globe,' he said.
Performances from 10 cultural groups representing Brazil, Burundi, China, Germany, Hungary, India, Japan, Mexico, South Sudan, Thailand, and local Noongar communities will take place on the iconic floating stage at Elizabeth Quay. The event aims to take visitors on a journey through Western Australia's cultural story.
The festival will conclude each night with a finale featuring an original soundtrack by Noongar singer-songwriter Phil Walleystack, followed by a fireworks display over the Quay. Lotterywest Acting CEO Lorna Pritchard noted that the festival is the first of many Lotterywest-supported community events in Perth this summer.
Visitors can take advantage of three hours of free parking at CPP Cultural Centre, Pier Street, and His Majesty's car parks during the event.
