Accessibility upgrades have been completed at the Pinjarra Civic Centre and Lesser Hall, enhancing inclusivity and ease of navigation for all visitors.
Improved Entrances and Pathways
The entrances to both facilities have been upgraded, and the surrounding path networks have been reconstructed to ensure smoother and more accessible surfaces. The works included demolishing outdated infrastructure, reconstructing entry pathways, and installing improvements designed to support better mobility.
Community Investment
Shire of Murray president Douglas McLarty highlighted the significance of the project for key community spaces. “These improvements reflect council’s commitment to creating public facilities that are welcoming, inclusive and safe for everybody,” he said. “We recognise how important these buildings are to residents, community groups and service providers, and we’re delighted to deliver upgrades that support better access for people with prams, mobility aids, wheelchairs and other accessibility needs.”
McLarty also thanked the community for their cooperation during the construction period and expressed hope that the enhancements would make a positive difference to everyone who visits or uses these spaces.
Corporate Support
Alcoa Pinjarra alumina refinery manager Jodie Giraudo noted that co-funding the project demonstrated the company’s continued commitment to community inclusion and safety. “The Civic Centre and Lesser Hall upgrades are an important step towards ensuring community members of all abilities are able to gather, connect and participate in community life,” she said.
