Firefighters Battle Blaze at NSW SES Facility

Dozens of firefighters were met with a massive plume of thick, black smoke as they arrived to tackle a blaze at an SES facility on the New South Wales Central Coast.

Incident Details

Crews were called to Levitt Street in Wyong at approximately 11:15 am local time. Upon arrival, they encountered a huge cloud of black smoke, prompting an immediate alert to nearby residents about the potential danger.

Fire and Rescue NSW reported that a defensive perimeter was quickly established around the depot to prevent the flames from spreading to neighbouring properties and vehicles. The fire posed a significant threat to a nearby tennis club, but containment efforts were successful.

Buildings Saved

“Two buildings including the Wyong Scout Hall have been saved,” the agency confirmed. Firefighters attacked the fire from multiple angles for over three hours before finally bringing it under control.

No injuries were reported among firefighters or civilians. Investigators are now working to determine the cause of the fire, which does not appear suspicious at this stage.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities have not yet released details on what was damaged inside the facility. The SES depot is used for storing emergency equipment and vehicles, and the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.

Local residents have been advised to stay clear of the area as cleanup and investigation efforts continue.
