Winter is well and truly on its way to Perth this week, as heavy rainfall is predicted to replace the cool and sunny last days of autumn that the metropolitan area has been enjoying. After a series of freezing mornings, the city is bracing for a wet start to the season.
Forecast Details
Although Tuesday is expected to be a relatively sunny 25°C, Wednesday will bring between 10 and 25mm of rain as the temperature peaks at 23°C. Thursday will also bring showers, with between 2 and 10mm expected, and just 2mm is predicted on Friday. The rain will return in full force for the weekend, with up to 25mm forecast on Saturday and 15mm on Sunday. Up to 15mm is also expected on Monday.
Coldest May Mornings in Years
The wet forecast comes as Perth experiences one of its coldest series of May mornings in years, with temperatures plunging to just 2.5°C on Sunday morning — the first time since 2019. The metropolitan area’s minimum temperature paled in comparison to the Wheatbelt town of Wandering, which shivered through -3.2°C on Saturday morning.
