A popular immune-support supplement has been recalled over fears that some bottles may have fermented. Certain 60ml and 350ml bottles of Drink Purple, manufactured by Mama Nayture Pty Ltd and sold in health food stores across New South Wales and Queensland as well as online, have been recalled, the NSW Food Authority announced on Thursday.
The recall was prompted by unintended fermentation, which may cause the products to taste sour, appear fizzy, or release pressure when opened. The NSW Food Authority warned that the affected products may contain excess alcohol and carbonation, which could cause illness or injury if consumed.
The affected products are from batch number 23716 and have an expiry date of May 30, 2027. Consumers who have purchased the affected products are advised not to drink or open them and to dispose of them safely. Those unsure how to safely get rid of the products are encouraged to contact Mama Nayture for advice. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.
The recall comes just a week after two other supplement products were pulled from shelves. Nature’s Own Glucosamine Sulfate with Chondroitin (320-pack) and Nature’s Own Magnesium Glycinate 1150mg (300-pack) were recalled over concerns that some bottles may contain glass fragments. “There is a risk of users being cut when handling the product, and it could also be harmful if accidentally swallowed,” the Therapeutic Goods Administration said.
