A Smart Hotel Emerges in London's Historic Heart

In the bustling City of London, a district steeped in millennia of commerce, finance, and culture, a new hospitality gem has opened its doors. The Sir Devonshire Square Hotel, launched in September 2025, represents a fusion of historic charm and contemporary innovation, set within a converted Georgian warehouse where the City meets the East End.

Blending Past and Present in Design

As you step into the lobby, stylish design immediately captivates, crafted by the London and Cornwall-based studio of Samuel Wright. The hotel features 81 rooms and suites, where rich creativity is woven into every detail. While a contemporary sheen prevails, colour palettes and groovy patterned fabrics evoke a retro vibe, reminiscent of the 1960s and 1970s—a period of significant change for the City, still recovering from World War II bombings.

This design ethos mirrors the area's resilience, having endured invasions, plagues, and economic shifts, yet thriving as a global tech and finance hub today. From the 17sqm Sir Petit rooms to the 63sqm Sir Devonshire Suite, all accommodations include perks like espresso machines, large TVs with streaming, work desks, and marble bathrooms with Zenology amenities.

Location and Ambiance

Nestled in Devonshire Square, a 2ha mixed-use development, the hotel is a short walk from Liverpool Street station, Britain's busiest transport hub. Surrounded by heritage-listed buildings once used by the East India Company, the area now boasts new offices, bars, and landscaped courtyards. Guests can enjoy architectural contrasts from their rooms, viewing brick warehouses against glassy skyscrapers.

The lobby-side bar and lounge offer a soothing environment with funky tunes, leather sofas, and artwork by London artists, perfect for evening drinks or morning coffees with pastries and cooked-to-order dishes like eggs Benedict. An adjoining events space with a terrace provides a lovely spot for summer cocktails.

Why Stay Here?

Compared to the West End, hotel rates in the City, nicknamed "The Square Mile," are often more appealing on weekends when business traffic wanes. The Sir Devonshire Square Hotel, part of the Amsterdam-based Sircle Collection and a member of Design Hotels by Marriott, caters to all budgets with rooms starting from around £145. It stands as a testament to the City's ongoing renaissance, turbocharged since the 1980s by financial deregulation.

With St Paul's Cathedral nearby and countless attractions in every direction, guests face the delightful dilemma of where to explore after breakfast. This smart hotel not only offers a comfortable retreat but also immerses visitors in London's dynamic history and modern vitality.
