Navy Lovebirds Exchange Vows at Picturesque Perth Zoo Wedding
Ashlee Drust and Joshua Kirk, both 27 years old, have celebrated their unique wedding at Perth Zoo, surrounded by animals, in a heartwarming ceremony that took place on November 15, 2025. The couple, who originally met in the navy back in 2018, shared their special day with family and friends at the zoo, followed by a delightful reception at the Windsor Hotel.
A Series of Spooky Coincidences Led to Their Meeting
Ashlee and Joshua's love story began under remarkable circumstances. They both enlisted in the navy on the exact same day, albeit from different sides of the country, and were assigned to the same job. To add to the coincidence, they commenced their training simultaneously, which eventually led to their fateful meeting. It was during a holiday in the United Kingdom that Joshua proposed to Ashlee at the picturesque gardens of Kensington Palace, setting the stage for their future together.
Choosing Perth Zoo for Their Mutual Love of Animals
The marine tactical border force officer and sports nutritionist decided to host their wedding at Perth Zoo due to their shared passion for animals. The day proceeded smoothly, with no hiccups and plenty of smiles, as the couple exchanged vows in a setting that reflected their interests and personalities.
Bride's Dream Dress and Honeymoon Plans
Ashlee found her beautiful mermaid-style gown at True Society by Tuscany Bridal, a dress she had always dreamed of wearing and fell in love with instantly upon trying it on. For their honeymoon, the newlyweds are set to travel to South Africa, where they will continue their celebrations in a new and exciting environment.
